EEG

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

Used to detect abnormal brain activity related to seizures, epilepsy, confusion, or fainting episodes.

What to Expect:

Small electrodes will be placed on your scalp to record brain wave patterns while you rest quietly. The procedure is non-invasive and lasts about 30–60 minutes.

Instructions:

- Wash your hair the night before. Avoid any oils, sprays, or styling products.
- No caffeine for 8 hours before the test.
- Take medications as directed by your doctor.
- You may be asked to stay awake the night before if a sleep-deprived EEG is required.

Ambulatory EEG

Monitors brain activity over 1–3 days while you go about your daily activities, helping capture irregular brain patterns that may not appear during short tests.

What to Expect:

Electrodes are placed and connected to a portable recorder worn at home. You’ll keep a diary of your symptoms and activities during the recording period.

Instructions:

- Wash hair before the appointment, no styling products.
- Wear a button-up or loose-fitting top.
- Avoid showering or bathing while the device is attached.
- Keep a symptom/activity log during monitoring.

EMG/NCS
(Electromyography & Nerve Conduction Studies)

Helps assess nerve damage or muscle dysfunction, often used for neuropathy, carpal tunnel, or muscle weakness.

What to Expect:

Small electrodes and a thin needle are used to test nerve signals and muscle response. Some minor discomfort may occur during the test.

Instructions:

- Do not apply lotion or oils on the day of the test.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to arms or legs.
- Inform your doctor if you’re on blood thinners or have a pacemaker.

Sleep Study
(Polysomnography)

Evaluates sleep-related issues such as sleep apnea, insomnia, or restless leg syndrome.

What to Expect:

Conducted overnight in a sleep lab. Sensors are placed to monitor breathing, heart rate, oxygen, and brain activity while you sleep.

Instructions:

- Avoid caffeine and alcohol on the day of the study.
- Bring pajamas and personal items to help you sleep.
- Take usual medications unless told otherwise.
- Arrive at the center at your scheduled time (usually in the evening).

NeuroTrax Cognitive Testing

Computerized testing that evaluates memory, attention, reasoning, and other cognitive functions. Often used to assess cognitive decline or monitor neurological changes over time.

What to Expect:

A 30–45-minute digital test involving memory games and problem-solving tasks, completed in a quiet room.

Instructions:

- Be well-rested and eat before the test.
- Bring reading glasses or hearing aids if needed.
- No special preparation required.

EVOX Brain Mapping

Used in neurofeedback therapy to analyze and retrain brainwave patterns, often to support mental focus, mood regulation, or stress recovery.

What to Expect:

Sensors are placed on the scalp to capture real-time brainwave data while you relax or engage in guided prompts. Sessions may include audio feedback or visual cues.

Instructions:

- Clean, dry hair — no gels or sprays.
- Avoid caffeine or stimulants beforehand.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
- Each session typically lasts 30–60 minutes.
